Las Vegas Cyclocross - 9/26/07

Ryan Trebon taking the win

A view of the race venue.....the city park is about 10 acres where the race was held. They made it a little more lengthy by zig zagging around and up and down the side slopes of the park. It was pretty impressive to see these guys basically holding a sprint pace for over an hour, not to metion the running dismounts thru the log section.

Trebon at the start line......waiting.......and waiting. There were probably about 60 guys lining up for the race. By then end of the race there were probably only about 40 left. Once you got lapped you had to drop out and got a DNF.
Geoff Kabush taking a break from whoopin' on everyone on the mountain bike, so he figured he would get some training miles in (to ensure he would continue putting the hurt on in the mountain races).
Basically a steeple chase......but for people instead of horses.

Yosemite - Summer '07

Hiking up the Glacier Point trail you start out in Yosemite Valley (yes, down at the river below) after a little bit you turn around and you suddenly realize just how much vertical you're gaining.
Driving in to the park just after sunrise I snapped this.....it's a little over exposed from looking in to the sun, but still think it's a great shot of El Cap from the valley.

The first morning Hilary & I decided to do a hike on a trail to "Glacier Point." The trail starts at the Merced River in Yosemite Valley, from there you ascend about 5,000 vertical feet to Glacier Point. From where this picture is taken you get a great view of Half Dome and down in to Yosemite Valley and El Capitan. Great hike......until you run in to all the gapers who drove up.

Hilary coming down from the peak of Half Dome. For those of you who haven't been up to the top of Half Dome, this view is kind of deceiving.....the granite is STEEP and pretty slick coming down. (When Hilary and I were descending we saw a guy that was a little intimidated by the descent/steepness and decided it would be best to slide down on his butt. I can't image sliding on my butt down a granite slope for 1,000ft.)
